Cleaning around a move has little in common with cleaning an occupied home. The property is often empty or half-empty, the people involved are working to a date they do not fully control, and the point of the work is almost always someone else’s first impression rather than the current occupant’s comfort.

That changes the practical picture in specific ways. Empty rooms expose everything that furniture was covering. Access may run through a building manager, a lockbox or a narrow window between the movers leaving and the next party arriving. Utilities may or may not still be connected. And the deadline is usually external and immovable.

It also changes what a good outcome looks like. In an occupied home the goal is comfort and presentation over time; in a transition the goal is that the property presents well at a single moment, to a person who has not seen it before.

Deadlines dominate this side of the service. The property normally has to be finished by a date that is already fixed, often on the same day the last of the furniture leaves, which makes coordination as important as the cleaning itself.

It exists because the property is changing hands, and it is shaped by dates, access and the expectations of whoever receives it.

A property in poor condition that is also being handed over may genuinely need both conversations at once, which is fine — it just needs saying, so that the scope reflects both the condition and the deadline rather than only one of them.
